Pro bono

Holding Redlich has a longstanding commitment to working pro bono to support access to justice for the most disadvantaged and vulnerable.  We have advised and represented refugees seeking asylum in Australia; people with disabilities challenging employment discrimination; homeless young people facing accumulated fines; elderly people duped into financial arrangements which could leave them homeless; emerging artists entering into contractual arrangements; and Indigenous organisations seeking to maintain their cultural heritage.  We also provide legal services to many community organisations working for social justice and human rights, and partner with pro bono legal referral services and community legal centres.

Holding Redlich Social Justice Fund

The Holding Redlich Social Justice Fund (a sub-fund of the Australian Communities Foundation) is a firm wide initiative to promote social justice in the community at a grass roots level, through a structured program of philanthropic giving.  The firm matches all contributions from staff and partners and since 2006 has supported initiatives aimed at addressing the needs of the most marginalised young people – particularly those who are homeless and/or at risk of leaving school.  Our current partners are Brisbane Youth Services, the Ardoch Youth Foundation and Youth Off The Streets.

Community involvement

We have always encouraged our partners and staff to contribute to the community by accepting positions of responsibility in government, community and arts organisations.  A number of our lawyers serve on, or have served on, boards and committees of government, statutory, arts and community bodies.

Since 2008, Holding Redlich has supported Chain Reaction, the ultimate corporate bike challenge. Chain Reaction raises money for sick children by challenging senior executives who have a passion for cycling and an awareness of their corporate and social responsibilities, to ride a 1,000 plus kilometre course in seven days.

Holding Redlich is proud to support the inaugural Variety Cycle which aims to raise $1million for children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs. Departing from Sydney in March 2014, Variety Cycle will tour Australia’s most iconic landscapes and pass through Canberra, Melbourne and Adelaide en route to Uluru.

Environment and sustainability

HR Green is the firm’s environment and sustainability program. Its purpose is to support and encourage everyone at Holding Redlich to improve their environmental awareness and actions at work.

Holding Redlich is a member of the Australian Legal Sector Alliance (AusLSA). AusLSA is an industry-led association working collaboratively to promote sustainable practices across the legal sector.
