Nathan has extensive experience in administrative and civil litigation, alternate dispute resolution, regulatory action, inquests, investigations and inquiries.

Nathan’s experience ranges across jurisdictions around Australia, including various registries of the Administrative Review Tribunal (ART) (formerly the AAT), the High Court, the Federal Court, various state and territory Supreme Courts, appellant jurisdictions, coronial courts and integrity commissions.

Nathan also has experience representing individuals and regulators in matters relating to regulatory action.

Experience

Nathan’s experience includes advising and/or acting for:

  • high level public servants and executives concerning matters being investigated by the ACT Integrity Commission, including representation at both public and private hearings
  • Commonwealth agencies and public authorities concerning correct and preferable decision making in the exercise of administrative powers under enactments 
  • various Commonwealth agencies in the ART, including:
    • Department of Home Affairs
    • Department of Education
    • NDIA
    • Comcare
    • Civil Aviation Safety Authority
  • individuals and Commonwealth agencies in numerous large scale coronial inquiries 
  • Commonwealth agencies insured by Comcover with respect to large scale litigation involving novel legal issues
  • judicial and Commonwealth agencies and individuals concerning vexatious litigants
  • Comcare and private insurers on toxic tort litigation, including novel statutory interpretation
  • medical practitioners concerning regulatory action being taken against them by the regulator
  • private and public clients concerning personal injury and public liability claims
  • private organisations concerning internal policy and procedural investigations
  • private insurers on the interpretation of insurance contracts.
