Melisa Yildiz is a Senior Associate in our Dispute Resolution and Litigation team in Melbourne. She advises individuals and corporate clients in complex state and federal proceedings, with a focus on regulatory enforcement, white-collar investigations and commercial litigation.

Her practice includes shareholder and directors’ disputes, professional negligence claims, property and trust disputes, and planning and environmental regulatory matters. She also has significant experience in regulatory and intervention matters under the Uniform Law and in proceedings involving ASIC and other regulators.

Experience

Melisa’s recent experience includes:

• regulatory investigations and enforcement proceedings for developers and landowners
• external administration of Victorian law practices appointed by the Victorian Legal Services Board
• professional negligence proceedings for individuals and corporate clients
• defending directors against claims alleging breaches of statutory and fiduciary duties
• debt recovery proceedings on behalf of State and Commonwealth government departments
• claims against former environmental consultants and auditors for corporate clients
• retail leasing disputes, including determining whether business operations constitute a retail premises under the Retail Leases Act 2003 (Vic)
• defending oppression claims on behalf of minority shareholders.
