Bridget advises clients on commercial litigation, dispute resolution and complex procedural matters across a broad range of industries. She has experience in managing commercial disputes and developing litigation strategies through all stages of proceedings.

Her areas of specialisation include:

  • complex commercial litigation and contractual disputes 
  • energy sector disputes, including contractual liability, fuel supply agreements and leasing obligations 
  • corporate fraud and white-collar crime, including freezing orders and asset recovery 
  • property and leasing disputes involving retail, commercial and shopping centre assets 
  • professional negligence claims

Experience

Bridget’s experience includes:

Commercial litigation and contractual disputes

  • acting for a private company in defending a class action proceeding brought in relation to the developer's reliance on a sunset clause to terminate contracts of sale
  • advising and representing a national petroleum company prosecuting and defending disputes across Australia involving contractual liabilities, leasing obligations and other commercial claims
  • representing companies and private individuals with respect to shareholder disputes and the invalid removal of directors
  • representing both large companies and businesses in product liability and commercial disputes.

Corporate fraud and white-collar crime

  • acting for a national construction company in a high-profile fraud in excess of $20 million, including obtaining urgent freezing orders, conducting fraud investigations and pursuing applications for the administration, collection and realisation of assets held by various entities (including overseas).

Property and leasing disputes

  • representing a major commercial landlord in successfully defending a claim based on the alleged authority of an agent to bind the company
  • representing a major shopping centre owner to successfully defend a claim brought challenging the termination of a lease
  • acting for private companies in development contract disputes, including enforcement of contractual obligations
  • acting for Australian property fund management companies, together with other investment and development entities, in the management of leasing portfolio disputes of various retail shopping centres.

Professional negligence

  • acting for a prominent businessman and founder of an ASX-listed company in a high-profile claim for professional negligence, with a value in excess of $30 million
  • representing a large Queensland insurer, including advice and representation regarding insurance claims arising from professional negligence, including defending a well-known firm in a claim relating to a high-profile Brisbane business owner
  • acting for a private individual defending over 20 related court proceedings arising from investment advice alleging claims of misrepresentation, professional negligence, breaches of contractual duties and breaches of fiduciary duties.

Alternative dispute resolution and private disputes

  • advising and representing a private individual in a sensitive family dispute regarding the distribution of significant family assets.
