Jessica is a skilled and dedicated Senior Associate with proven expertise in managing complex proceedings in the Federal Court and Federal Circuit and Family Court, specialising in cases involving underpayments, general protections claims, industrial disputes, and other alleged contraventions of the Fair Work Act 2009. She also has expertise in managing Workplace Health and Safety prosecutions in the Industrial Relations Court of NSW.

Jessica works closely with both public and private sector clients to handle employment, industrial and WHS litigation with sensitivity and pragmatism. She focuses on understanding and achieving clients’ legal and non-legal objectives. Jessica offers expertise and insight into the national workplace regulator’s litigation strategy and how to strategically handle litigation risks, underpayment self-reports and remediation programs, regulatory investigations and communications with internal stakeholders. In addition to litigation management, Jessica has expertise in alternative dispute resolution in both state and federal jurisdictions as well as advising on contentious modern award and enterprise agreement matters.

Experience

Jessica’s experience includes:

• acting in high profile underpayment and general protections litigation in the Federal Court and Federal Circuit and Family Court
• managing Workplace Health and Safety prosecutions on behalf of the regulator in the Industrial Relations Court of NSW
• assisting employers and other clients conduct compliance audits and engage with state and federal regulators during investigations to minimise the risk of prosecution and reputational damage
• providing strategic advice to private and public sector employers in relation to underpayment self-reports to the Fair Work Ombudsman
• acting for public and private sector clients in negotiated settlements of non-litigated employment and commercial disputes
• appearing for clients in interlocutory disputes in the Federal Court, NSW Supreme and District Court
• advising on complex modern award and enterprise agreement interpretation issues.
