Migration Amendment (Skilling Australians Fund) Bill 2018
Introduced with the Migration (Skilling Australians Fund) Charges Bill 2017, towards replacing Training Benchmarks for work visas, the bill amends the Migration Act 1958 to: provide for the collection of the nomination training contribution charge; enable nominations to be accepted from persons who have applied to be an approved sponsor or have entered into negotiations for a work agreement; enable the minister to determine the manner in which labour market testing for a nominated position must be undertaken and the kinds of evidence that must accompany a nomination; and make amendments contingent on the commencement of the proposed Migration Senate Second reading agreed to 15 February 2018; Committee of the Whole debate 15 February 2018.

Austria & Czech added to the Work and Holiday visa list
Austrian and Czech nationals can now apply for the Work and Holiday visa (Subclass 462). Austrian and Czech passport holders can make an application for a Work and Holiday (Temporary) (Class US) visa. The new regulation specifies the educational qualifications and the upper age limits for those applicants, specifies the approved forms, place and manner for making an application, specifies that Argentinian passport holders are a class of persons who are exempt from the requirement to provide evidence of home government support for the grant of the visa and updates postal addresses. Australian Citizenship Legislation Amendment (Strengthening the Commitments for Australian Citizenship and Other Measures) Bill 2018
The Bill amends the Australian Citizenship Act 2007 (the Act) and the Migration Act 1958 (the Migration Act) to strengthen requirements to become an Australian citizen and other key provisions. Senate Introduced and read a first time 7 February 2018; Second reading moved 7 February 2018. 

Australian Passports Amendment (Identity-matching Services) Bill 2018
This Bill amends the Australian Passports Act 2005 (Passports Act) to provide a legal basis for ensuring that the Minister is able to make Australian travel document data available for all the purposes of, and by the automated means intrinsic to, the identity-matching services to which the Commonwealth and the States and Territories agreed in the  Intergovernmental Agreement on Identity Matching Services (IGA), signed at a meeting of the Council of Australian Governments on 5 October 2017.  House of Representatives Introduced and read a first time 7 February 2018; Second reading moved 7 February 2018.
