Holding Redlich transport team listed in top international legal guide

06 December 19 - Media Release

Two of national law firm Holding Redlich’s transport partners have been listed in the latest edition of leading legal directory Chambers and Partners, it has been announced today.

Based in the firm’s Sydney office, Transport, Shipping & Logistics partners Geoff Farnsworth and Nathan Cecil have both been listed in the Shipping category of the Chambers Asia-Pacific 2020 edition.

Partner Geoff Farnsworth said he is very pleased that the team has received this high-level recognition after a very busy – and interesting – year in maritime law.

“We are always focussed on our core shipping and P&I practice and have had a number of interesting collision cases in particular,” Geoff said.

“But, we are very active across the entire spectrum of commercial maritime law. This year we have been involved in a large claim against a port operator for (alleged) anti-competitive conduct and, on the flipside, have expanded our work on large scale port related infrastructure and regulatory matters.

“The mix of commercial, regulatory, transactional and disputes work keeps things very interesting for us and our junior lawyers.”

Partner Nathan Cecil said the Holding Redlich transport team takes a practical, commercial approach to guiding clients through this complex area of law.

“I think that one of the greatest contributors to the success of our team is the way we work with our clients to help solve their problems,” Nathan said.

“The feed-back and testimonials that we receive often have this common thread. We provide our advice in its commercial context, in a commercial way that aligns with the strategies and interests of our clients.

“The trick is to make things as practical as possible for our clients, so that they can focus less on interpreting legal advice and more on implementing legally sound strategies within their businesses.”

Chambers’ market commentators commented that Geoff is “a very experienced, practical and sensible lawyer who is always very attentive to the commerciality of the situation,” and Nathan “is a remarkable, extremely knowledgeable person who provides swift, succinct, to-the-point, results-focused advice.”
