Felicia is a Special Counsel in our Dispute Resolution and Litigation team specialising in public and administrative law, Government, regulatory and corporate and commercial matters.

Experience

Felicia’s experience includes:

Public and administrative law, government and regulatory

  • acting for a Commonwealth government regulator in respect of Federal Court applications under the Administrative Decisions Judicial Review Act 1977 (Cth) for review of statutory decisions made under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Cth), and subsequent appeals
  • advising a Commonwealth government department in respect of Federal Court applications under the Administrative Decisions Judicial Review Act 1977 (Cth) for review of statutory decisions made under the Defence Regulation 2016 (Cth), and subsequent appeals
  • advising organisations in relation to government decision-making, policies and frameworks, statutory interpretation and regulatory issues
  • advising a telecommunications company on a consumer law risk assessment
  • arising from consumer compliance obligations imposed on it under an undertaking provided to the ACCC and the Federal Court under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)
  • advising an airport on complex competition and consumer compliance matters, including ACCC consultations and production notices
  • working as part of the inquiry legal team within the UK Government Cabinet Office on the “Infected Blood Inquiry”, an independent public statutory inquiry chaired by Sir Brian Langstaff
  • advising a magic circle law firm in the UK on commercial, professional regulatory and employment matters, investigations and proceedings
  • working on a significant voluntary remediation project for a UK high street bank investigating the actions of a specific division of the bank established following the global financial crisis.

Corporate and commercial disputes and insolvency

  • acting for a mining company in unique Land Court compensation proceedings arising from special purpose legislation enacted by the Queensland Parliament
  • acting for parties in a large, complex mining joint venture dispute in the Queensland Supreme Court
  • acting for an international mining company in a dispute against a rail operator arising from rail construction and access contracts
  • acting for a pilotage services provider in respect of a misleading or deceptive conduct claim under the Australian Consumer Law
  • acting for minority shareholders in winding up- applications on ‘just and equitable’ grounds and on grounds of shareholder oppression acting for a director in respect of a cross- claim alleging the director was “knowingly concerned” in alleged contraventions of the Australian Consumer Law
  • acting for parties in relation to debt recovery and enforcement proceedings, including statutory demand disputes and winding-up in insolvency proceedings.
