Mina is a senior associate in the Melbourne Dispute Resolution and Litigation team, working out of Sydney. Mina has conducted matters in the Federal Court of Australia and the Supreme Court of New South Wales. Her practice has a particular focus on complex regulatory investigations and disputes, acting for ASIC in respect of the conduct of financial institutions, including large banks and insurance companies.

Prior to joining Holding Redlich, Mina completed a graduate program which involved six-month rotations in four government departments and later worked at major law firms in both Australia and New Zealand.

Experience

Mina has acted in a number of high profile disputes and investigations. Some examples of her recent work include:

  • acting for ASIC in the investigation and subsequent Federal Court proceedings against Westpac for alleged insider trading, unconscionable conduct and breaches of its Australian financial services licensee obligations
  • acting for ASIC in several investigations involving financial institutions in alleged breaches in financial reporting, the mis-sale of consumer credit insurance and AML/CTF legislation
  • acting for ASIC in the first unfair contract terms (UCT) investigation against well-known insurers
  • acting for an agri-finance company in a shareholder oppression proceeding which led to a successful settlement
  • defending an Australian broadcaster in defamation proceeding brought by a former well-known radio and television host, including preparing pleadings that led to a successful settlement
  • acting for a defendant organic processor in Supreme Court proceedings involving allegations of breach of contract which led to a successful settlement
  • acting for a partner at a top four accounting firm subject to a public examination under 596B of the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) and responding to an order for production on the same
  • acting for top four accounting firms in responses to subponeas and document production requests, including appropriately identifying privileged documents and providing timely advice.
