Lilian is an experienced workplace lawyer, with both front end workplace relations advice experience and back-end employment and industrial relations advocacy experience. She has experience in both private and public sector and is able to provide bespoke written and verbal advice in simple and understandable format.

Lilian is able to bring a unique perspective, with a background representing builders within the Queensland residential construction industry, including prior experience with lobbying state and federal government on changes relevant to the construction industry.

She is able to identify problems and provide commercially sound solutions to clients, through the entire employment cycle from initial hiring, determining award coverage to contract termination and termination related litigation. By working closely with clients to identify their relevant workforce problems, she is able to help clients achieve their desired outcome in a collaborative, practical and responsible way.

Beyond the workplace, Lilian also regularly volunteers her time at Caxton Legal Employment Evening Advice Sessions.

Experience

Lilian’s experience includes:

  • undertaking wage audits in relation to underpayment and overpayment claims
  • assisted with enterprise bargaining from commencement to approval for a national building and construction company
  • drafting employment agreements, contractor agreements, executive contracts, policies and procedures
  • providing advice in relation to termination employment issues, post-employment obligations, redundancies, injured employees, discrimination, privacy and restructures
  • assistance with managing employee performance and managing ill and injured employees, including workers compensation claims
  • providing advocacy for clients at the Fair Work Commission, Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, Federal Court of Australia and the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission
  • providing workplace training on psychosocial hazards, bullying, discrimination and performance management
  • representing a peak business organisation in the Fair Work Commission Four Yearly Annual Wage Review on various construction awards, including the Building and Construction General Onsite Award, Joinery and Building Trades Award, Manufacturing and Associated Industries Award and Timber Industry Award
  • conducting workplace investigations in relation to misconduct, bullying and harassment allegations, including conducting interviews and preparing an investigation report with recommended disciplinary action.
