Bribie Stansfield is a Senior Associate in our Planning, Environment & Sustainability team in Sydney. She works closely with colleagues to advise government clients on complex questions of administrative law and statutory interpretation.

She has particular experience drafting bespoke agreements for State and Local Government relating to State Significant Precincts and Infrastructure, renewable energy and natural resources projects, and development concerning social and community housing.

Bribie advises on planning and environmental law, infrastructure projects, and land use and natural resources regulation in New South Wales.

Experience

Bribie’s relevant experience includes:

• drafting instructions to Parliamentary Counsel for amendments to water sharing plans regulating the taking and use of water
• negotiated agreements for NSW Government clients to facilitate renewable energy projects, including large-scale solar and wind developments on private land
• State planning agreements and works-in-kind agreements for State Significant Precincts, including land dedication to the National Parks and Wildlife Service and delivery of public infrastructure
• bespoke licence agreements for local government clients relating to vegetation management under biodiversity conservation legislation
• voluntary planning agreements for development contributions under section 7.4 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979
• drafting regulatory instruments affecting land rights under the Conveyancing Act 1919 and related legislation
• advising pipeline and gas operators on statutory interpretation issues under the Pipelines Act 1967
• advising NSW Government clients on the interpretation and application of the Plantations and Reafforestation Act 1999
• advising on approval pathways for State Significant Infrastructure projects, including water treatment and storage facilities.
