Expertise

Isaac is a Special Counsel in the NSW Property, Planning and Development team with over 10 years’ experience practicing as a property lawyer and mediator in the private and public sector.

He has significant experience in managing complex retail, commercial, industrial and telecommunications leasing portfolios for major institutional landlords, tenants and government organisations on a national basis, including high value and long term leasing transactions which involve substantial development work and infrastructure projects.

He also has experience in capital transactions, and the property related aspects of corporate transactions and portfolio financing.

Prior to joining Holding Redlich, Isaac held positions at MinterEllison, Australian Government Solicitor and the NSW Government, and has acted as in house counsel on secondment for numerous corporate clients.

Experience

Leasing

At Holding Redlich:

  • acting for a major developer in respect to a Project Delivery Agreement and Lease for construction and titling purposes in relation to a development with value over $100 million
  • acting for Lake Macquarie Council in relation to the preparation of an AFL and Lease for a development of a sporting precinct with value over $50 million
  • acting for ISPT in respect of the redevelopment of a regional shopping centre including in respect of an AFL and long term lease with a major anchor tenant
  • acting for Frasers Property in respect of the redevelopment of a regional shopping centre including in respect of an AFL and long term lease with a major anchor tenant
  • acting for Stockland in relation to bespoke leasing transactions, including in relation to the fitout and lease of a major new commercial office premises tenanted by Stockland.

Prior to joining Holding Redlich, Isaac’s experience included:

  • acting for GPT in relation to its industrial, commercial and retail leasing portfolios including undertaking development work and obtaining pre-leasing commitments in relation to assets under construction, and the redevelopment and repurposing of existing assets
  • acting for Dexus in relation to its industrial, commercial and retail leasing portfolios including undertaking development work in relation to the redevelopment and repurposing of existing assets, and the major redevelopment of a theatre precinct in Martin Place 
  • acting for Telstra in relation to its National Blackspot Project, which involved the rollout a $300million national telecommunications portfolio
  • acting for Brookfield in relation to its commercial and retail leasing portfolios including undertaking development work and obtaining pre-leasing commitments in relation to assets under construction 
  • acting for Growthpoint in relation to its commercial leasing portfolio including undertaking work in relation to a 40 year whole of building lease and major asset refurbishment which at the time was the largest leasing deal in company history
  • acting for various Commonwealth organisations as tenant including managing tenant property portfolios for NDIA and Ministerial and Parliamentary Services, and acting in respect to transactions which involved development, including a multi floor AFL and lease relating to a new building under construction in Martin Place for a government body
  • acting for Property NSW as tenant in relation to its NSW property portfolio
  • acting for AMP in relation to its commercial and industrial leasing portfolios
  • acting for Mirvac in relation to its commercial and retail leasing portfolios
  • acting for Challenger in relation to its commercial, retail and industrial leasing portfolios
  • acting for Elanor Investors in relation to its commercial and retail leasing portfolios

Capital and corporate transactions

Prior to joining Holding Redlich:

  • acting for a Commonwealth organisation in relation to the acquisition of land for the construction of rail infrastructure for a 1700km national freight rail network
  • acting for an ASX100 institutional property fund in relation to the proposed acquisition of a $3.8 billion logistics portfolio
  • acting for an international renewable energy provider in relation to the property components of a disposal of a solar farm project in regional NSW to a large international purchaser by way of a share sale of the SPV
  • acting for a leading national student accommodation provider in relation to the property components of a refinance of a national student accommodation portfolio of 33 properties
  • acting for a NSW government body in relation to the disposal by tender of a CBD heritage listed building by way of 99 year ground lease
  • acting for an ASX100 developer in relation to the acquisition of a portfolio of properties for a future development site
  • acting for a major childcare operator in relation to the property components of a disposal of a portfolio of childcare centres which involved a variety of different disposal structures (including by asset sale and transfer of lease)
  • acting for a financier in relation to the disposal of a national portfolio of properties where the financier was mortgagee in possession
  • acting for a Commonwealth organisation in relation to the acquisition of land to be used as a defence base
  • acting for a Commonwealth organisation in relation to the acquisition of a portfolio of residential properties for the purpose of defence housing.
