A sculpture of a homeless man by Sydney artist Paul Trefry (titled Homeless still human, pictured below) has won this year’s Holding Redlich People’s Choice Award in the 2015 Salon des Refusés Exhibition.
The exhibition, the alternative Archibald and Wynne Prize selection, runs until 13 September at the S.H. Ervin Gallery at Observatory Hill in Sydney. Made out of fibreglass and horsehair, this is only the second time that a work originally entered into the Wynne Prize has won the People’s Choice Award.
Holding Redlich’s Sydney managing partner Stephen Trew said the firm is proud to be a long-term sponsor of the arts in Sydney and in particular the Salon des Refusés exhibition.
“This is Holding Redlich’s 17th year as the principal sponsor of the Salon des Refusés exhibition.
“We congratulate Paul Trefry, winner of the Holding Redlich People’s Choice Award 2015, for his compelling sculpture – a poignant image that has clearly caught the eye of so many.”
