Holding Redlich achieves 16th year as Employer of Choice for Gender Equality

30 July 24 - Media Release

National law firm Holding Redlich today announces its recognition by the Australian Government’s Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) as an Employer of Choice for Gender Equality for the 16th consecutive year.

The citation reflects the firm’s commitment to maintaining gender pay equity across the firm and the success of its comprehensive career development programs and flexible working policies.

Holding Redlich National Managing Partner, Troy Lewis, says the firm has made significant strides in advancing gender equality across recruitment, training and development, promotion, pay equity, and flexible working processes since its last submission in 2022.

“Over the past two years, we have increased paid parental leave to 26 weeks for primary carers, expanded training and development opportunities, and continued to embed flexibility at all levels of our firm. At the end of the 2023/24 financial year, over 60 per cent of our people worked flexibly,” he said.

Promoting transparency and accountability, WGEA also publishes base salary and total remuneration median gender pay gaps for private sector employers in Australia with 100 or more employees. The median total remuneration gender pay gap for Holding Redlich is 2.1 per cent, significantly less than the industry average of 22.9 per cent.

“With a gender pay gap consistently well below benchmark thresholds for female legal employees, we pride ourselves on addressing inequalities and ensuring gender equality through continuous analysis of remuneration data, benchmarking against industry standards, and gender pay equity audits,” Troy adds.

“It is these constant actions and self-review that ensure all our employees are fairly represented, equally valued, and rewarded in the workplace.”

WGEA’s Employer of Choice for Gender Equality citation recognises Australian organisations that are taking action towards improving gender equality outcomes and upholding gender equality as an integral component of workplace and business practices. The citation acknowledges a successful and comprehensive submission that details the company’s strategies and progress in areas including training and development, recruitment, staff promotion, employee pay equity, and flexible working.

Only 114 other organisations have met the criteria for the citation, which becomes more stringent each year, continuously raising the bar in terms of what it means to be a leading employer in the areas of gender equality and diversity.

Holding Redlich leads the way in relation to female representation at the senior lawyer and partnership levels with the recent Executive Committee election surpassing its own 30 per cent WGEA target for female representation.
