Expertise

Kylie is a senior member of the Dispute Resolution and Litigation group in Melbourne and has acted for a range of corporate and individual clients in numerous jurisdictions. Kylie acts on behalf of clients in disputes across a number of industries and is well-versed in the financial services, resources and agribusiness sectors.

Having practiced for 20 years, Kylie also has experience in the jurisdictions of Western Australia, South Australia and Queensland and has been involved in a variety of corporate crime and regulatory investigations commenced by the ASIC, the ACCC and IBAC.

In addition to traditional litigation methods, Kylie is an advocate of, and has actively participated in, all varieties of alternative dispute process and where possible strives to achieve early resolution of disputes that are in the best interest of her clients.

Acting on behalf of administrators and liquidators, unfair preference claims, statutory demands, winding up applications, insolvent trading.

Competition and consumer law

Misleading and deceptive conduct claims, ACCC enquiries and undertakings, franchising code breaches.

Experience

Kylie has been involved in a number of high profile proceedings in both the civil and criminal spheres, including:

  • the successful defence of an individual prosecuted as part of a price fixing case initiated by the ACCC
  • defending an individual in a Commonwealth bribery prosecution
  • representing a number of directors in a complex and high-profile shareholder class action
  • on behalf of companies, unions and individuals at numerous royal commissions including as a senior member of a team acting as Solicitors Assisting in the Royal Commission into the Management of Police Informants
  • defending a company and its directors facing prosecutions commenced by the EPA, and a local council.

Kylie has extensive experience in all facets of dispute resolution including initiating and defending injunctive proceedings, managing large scale litigation and electronic discovery, acting as an independent solicitor overseeing the execution of anton pillar orders and analysing expert evidence.

Kylie is passionate about acting in pro bono matters and regularly represents asylum seekers and people in need who are unable to afford and access legal services.
