Australian citizenship changes back on agenda
The government is still seeking to amend the Citizenship Act and has reintroduced to parliament the Australian Citizenship Legislation Amendment (Strengthening the Requirements for Australian Citizenship and Other Measures) Bill 2017 for introduction and passage in the coming spring session of the Parliament.

Western Australia to offer skilled migration pathway to student graduates
Western Australia is hoping to attract international students by developing a specific occupation list providing graduates of Western Australian universities a pathway to permanent skilled migration. We expect to see this list released within the next couple of months.

Global Service Centre Opened
The Department of Home Affairs has opened a new service centre in Adelaide which will service local and overseas callers about visa, citizenship and travel or trade enquiries. This centre has created approximately 250 new jobs in South Australia and will hopefully reduce the time spent waiting on hold to the call centre.
